Product Description

SureCall Surge Protector (75 Ohm).

SureCall SCLP75 lightning surge protector/ in-line arrestor can be used within any 75 Ohm signal booster system. The SureCall lightning surge protector SC-LP-75 is made with RG-6 and RG-11 coaxial cables in mind. This lightning arrester for outside antennas is designed to keep a system protected from any lightning damage. The lightning protector ensures an amplifier has been protected from thunderstorms and lightning strikes and works best with cellular signal boosters from SureCall. It is very easy to install and weather resistant.

SCLP-75 is designed to protect against lightning surges. It is installed between your external antenna and amplifier, but is not directly connected to either. In the event that lightning strikes your outdoor antenna, or a large power surge occurs, the device will release a gas discharge element to break the connection. The gas element can be replaced if and when this does happen. A short amount of additional coax cable is required for the installation, and the lightning protector must be grounded to be effective.

If you're thinking about installing your kit in an area mostly afflicted by lightning, get a working lightning surge protector for your 75 Ohm cell phone signal booster system. Sure Call SC LP 75 can be installed close to the amplifier in line with the coaxial cable such as RG6 or RG11. It must perfectly grounded. Sure-Call SC-LP75/ CM-LP-75 is SureCall lightning protector that includes a gas discharge replacement element and a lifetime warranty.

You only need to have the protector inserted to the outer cable for the antenna. You may need an RG6 or RG11 cable to connect to the unit once it has been grounded. The amplifier and the cable can then be connected on the outside port for the antenna. SC-LP consists of a F-Female to F-Male connector for 75 Ohm cable systems.

It requires professional installation so professional installers would know how to install it. The male side of this surge protector should be connected to the outdoor antenna and the female side should be connected to the coax cable. It goes between outdoor 75 Ohm antenna pigtail wire with its connector and the cable that comes inside the house. It helps only if lightning strikes antenna which is most likely because it juts out the most from most building structures. This surge protector and a grounded wire from it will both minimize damage by blocking and/or deflecting the lightning surge into the ground soil via grounding cable.

Connect the lightning protector to your outside antenna and use the coax cable going down to the booster. You will need 10-12G wire in order to ground the protector. The 10-12 gauge wire (see preceding link to grounding cable) is connected on the lighting protector to a grounding plate or anything metal like metallic water pipe that can help ground it.

Discharge Tube Surge Arrestor.

SureCall's coaxial lightning arrestors act as a signal filter and are designed to pass desired frequencies while suppressing lightning surges. Lightning strike electrical surges are diverted through the protector's short-circuit to the ground. SC-LP-75 features F-Male and F-Female connector.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Just purchased the Fusion4Home. How do I know if I need a 50 ohm or 75 ohm surge suppressor?

SureCall Fusion4Home has 75 ohm donor antenna port (meaning opening in signal amplifier base station where the cable goes to exterior antenna). Therefore, you will need 75 Ohm lightning surge suppressor.

Note: For any signal booster to help, outside signal strength must be at least -110 dB or there must be a clear line of sight to a cell tower that is within twenty miles. Before ordering, please check outside signal level in decibels or ensure that you can make and hold a phone call at any good spot outside where you can mount an exterior antenna. Square footage stated in signal booster listings is based on good signal outside. If it is any weaker, the boosted sq. ft. area will be considerably lower, accordingly.

Kevin K. of Anderson, California gave the following review:

Website is easy to use with plain straight forward info but could have had more on testing signal strength to make sure you get a strong enough booster.

Therefore, please note that stated sq. ft. coverage is based on good signal outside. For best results: If outside signal is weak, we suggest choosing the next higher sq. ft. coverage kit. If outside signal is very weak, we suggest choosing the kit with even more higher sq. ft. range bracket. Basically, higher the sq. ft. bracket, the more powerful the signal amplifier with greater Gain as well as higher uplink and downlink output power.

If outside signal is too weak (weaker than -110 dB), submit request for cell coverage solution assessment. Upon receipt of questionnaire, we will perform residential or business site survey. This will help us determine the system that is needed to improve cell coverage. Then, we will create system design using that system such as femtocell, active or hybrid distributed antenna system (DAS), or other carrier feed signal enhancing method available that will work at your signal-challenged location. Finally, we will schedule for installation after equipment and installation service quote has been approved by you, or your company.

For non installation-included kits: Most home / office / building cell signal booster kits only include bracket to mount exterior antenna on outside wall, edge of roof, or existing pipe up to 2 inches in diameter. Mounting pole not included with most kits, unless stated specifically that it is included for free. Therefore, a mounting post must be purchased separately if you will require it to mount exterior antenna.
