How do building cell phone signal boosters work?
Cellular signal booster or amplifier kits consist of 3 main parts - Exterior antenna, signal amplifier, and interior antenna:
- An exterior building antenna transmits signals from nearest cell towers into the building via coaxial cable.

Therefore, actual coverage cannot be predicted with certainty. This is the reason why you will see that each booster kit description states, "up to" a specific amount of square footage. No booster can guarantee an exact amount of coverage it can provide. The stated coverage area in square footage, is merely an estimation.
Simple 3-Step Installation Process:

What is included in the 50k kit?
Up to 50k kit includes: Integrated Exterior Antenna & Amplifier, Interior Antenna, 2 Cables [only one needed, use either 45 ft. or 15 ft. cable that suits distance from exterior unit (antenna/booster) and interior antenna], Power Adapter, and Mounting kit.

What is the maximum length of coax cable that I can use from external antenna to the booster?
Sorry, we can only give you a rough estimate about what is the maximum length of coax cable that you can use from external antenna to the booster for each of the kits listed to prevent losing of all of the Gain provided by the booster in respective kit.
The maximum length cable for outside antenna of kits covering under 5k sq. ft. is 100 feet (use RG11 100 ft. cable for kits that have 75 Ohm impedance outside antenna port).
For kits covering larger areas, you can use longer cables but anything above 100 ft., you need to use LMR600 equivalent cable and anything lower than 100 ft., use LMR400 equivalent cable.
You can use any length of cable you like for more powerful kits offering +70 or +72 dB Gain, but you need to consider how strong the incoming signal is, to ensure the signal loss incurred due to extensive cabling does not negate all the Gain that can possibly be achieved.
For example, for every 100 feet cable, you will lose approximately 6db at 2 GHz. For example, if you use 200 ft. of cable. you will lose 12 db signal gained by the cellular amplifier.
Please ensure the outside signal strength is strong (equivalent to 4-5 bars) before considering lengthening cable already provided in the kit. -
can you purchase the booster without the kit?

Will it boost very weak signals?
As long as there's some signal outside, it will improve signal indoors even if there's no signal indoors. If signal outside is very weak, we recommend the kit that covers more indoor area in order to compensate.
As stated at one of our other listings:
For example, if you need to cover 4,000 sq. ft. but outside signal strength is medium (2-3 bars), you must select the next more powerful kit ("Better" - offering +65dB Max. Gain) for best possible indoor coverage. If signal is very weak outside (1-2 bars), you must select the most powerful kit ("Best" - offering +70dB Max. Gain) to get best possible indoor coverage. -
Will all of these work for all carrier phones and mobile hotspots? In addition to a Mi-Fi from Bell, I have a phone from Koodo and my wife has one from Fido.

Note: For any signal booster to help, outside signal strength must be at least -110 dB or there must be a clear line of sight to a cell tower that is within twenty miles. Before ordering, please check outside signal level in decibels or ensure that you can make and hold a phone call at any good spot outside where you can mount an exterior antenna. Square footage stated in signal booster listings is based on good signal outside. If it is any weaker, the boosted sq. ft. area will be considerably lower, accordingly.

If outside signal is too weak (weaker than -110 dB), submit request for cell coverage solution assessment. Upon receipt of questionnaire, we will perform residential or business site survey. This will help us determine the system that is needed to improve cell coverage. Then, we will create system design using that system such as femtocell, active or hybrid distributed antenna system (DAS), or other carrier feed signal enhancing method available that will work at your signal-challenged location. Finally, we will schedule for installation after equipment and installation service quote has been approved by you, or your company.
For non installation-included kits: Most home / office / building cell signal booster kits only include bracket to mount exterior antenna on outside wall, edge of roof, or existing pipe up to 2 inches in diameter. Mounting pole not included with most kits, unless stated specifically that it is included for free. Therefore, a mounting post must be purchased separately if you will require it to mount exterior antenna.
