FirstNet (United States First Responder Network Authority) Brief

FirstNet is United States First Responder Network Authority. It was authorized by Congress in the year 2012. As an independent authority within the Department of Commerce, FirstNet's mission is to assist first responders in saving lives and protecting United States communities. It does this by building and maintaining the nationwide broadband network. As recommended by the 911 Commission, FirstNet's dedicated public safety broadband network helps firefighters, law enforcement, and emergency personnel save lives by providing mission-critical, high-speed data services.
