EV Charging Station Installation Tool for Parking Lots

A mobile signal reader and other cell signal improvement installation tools for cell signal booster installers from SignalBooster.com are valuable tools that help ensure that each EV charging station has the required connectivity. Our cell phone signal booster installers use them to install wireless enhancement systems in parking garages where EV chargers are located with poor surrounding cellular signal. If necessary, we can offer full signal booster installing service in parking garages where EV chargers are located with weak signal surrounding EV charge station.

The Role of Electric Vehicles (EVs) In The Future.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are here to stay and we will be seeing an increasing number of them appearing on the roads. Revolution is well underway. A Bloomberg report published in 2019 estimates that EV sales in United States will grow from 2% in 2019 to nearly 60% in 2040. While conventional vehicles can only refuel at gasoline stations, EVs can be charged at many different locations, including in public spaces, at work or at home.

EVs have many benefits, including economic, health and environmental. Charging them can however result in higher electricity costs for building owners if this is not managed properly. Analysis done on charging EVs at an office workplace shows that charging EVs could increase energy costs by between 45 and 89% percent if it is not managed properly.

Fortunately, there are a number of strategies that can be used to manage these escalating cost properly, thus allowing building owners to provide the desired amenity of charging stations while supporting the acceleration of EV adoption and decarburization.

These strategies include syncing charging stations with the building management system and installing managed or sub metered charging stations.

EV Charging Challenges.

Charging stations in buildings are often not metered separately due to awareness lacking and the requirement for a more complex installations. As they are normally tied into a building’s power supply, the building owner generally pays for the demand charges without charging an actual driver. This results in the costs of EV charging and the value of getting a full EV battery are not aligned.

Charging at the workplace most often happens first thing in the morning, at the same time as building start-up. This presents more grid challenges as more loads occur at the same time in the morning. The increased morning loads could move the current evening system peak experienced by most utilities, or may create a second peak. The sharp lift in peak demand may in turn increase electricity generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, which will result in increased costs and carbon and for all energy users.

EV Charging Station Connectivity.

As mentioned before, strategies that can be used to manage EV charging stations properly include syncing charging stations with the building management system and installing managed or sub metered charging stations. Each of these strategies ultimately needs connectivity to a cellular network in order to implement them. It is therefore not good enough for installers to simply provide the electrical infrastructure for the EV charging stations, but they need to ensure that each station can connect reliably.

To achieve this, the Cell Signal Strength Reader tool for Cellular Booster Installers from SignalBooster.com is an invaluable tool that will help ensure that each station has the required connectivity.

Cell Signal Strength Reader Tool.

The cell signal reader and installation tool will work seamlessly for all U.S. regional carrier network repeaters, amplifiers, and cellular boosters. The spectrum analyzer or RF strength meter has been specifically designed for EV charging stations, Machine to Machine (M2M) interfaces and communications, Internet of Things (IoT), and cell phone signal booster installs by professional installers.

This installation tool has been designed to be used by both professional and non-professional signal booster installers to help them to determine the strongest 3G and 4G cellular signals available for bi-directional repeater systems (BDR). To enable installation and optimization of a wide range of cellular products, including signal boosters and EV charging stations, users of this electronic device are intuitively guided through a number of simple steps required for aligning antennas to cellular base stations nearby. This innovative installation tool is recommended by many certified installers for a wide range of products.

Tool Operation.

This electronic radio frequency (RF) unit measures real-time signal strength for 3G (Ec/Io and RSCP) and 4G (RSSI, RSRQ and RSRP) networks. This makes it the perfect installation tool to move from older 3G networks on to newer 4G networks.

This phone signal diagnosing tool enables installers to verify the strongest signal for a wide range of 4G and 3G cellular bidirectional amplifier (BDA) systems, and has been designed for easy use by all installers.

Cell signal boosters are used to boost mobile signals and are commonly used in areas where signal coverage is unreliable and/or weak. This may well be the case where EV charging stations need to be installed in, for example, covered parking garages and basements. Using a smartphone's field test mode and signal bars will definitely not be reliable enough as they are constrained by the phone's built-in antenna design, speed, and carrier. This cellphone signal meter is easy to use, and guides users through simple menu choices, starting with the carrier. If EV charging station only supports a specific wireless carrier, or is tied to an existing contract with a carrier, that carrier can simply be selected and the prompts followed.

Accurate Signal Measurements.

Nowadays, more and more individuals and companies in United States located in areas where 4G or 3G signal coverage is unreliable or poor are using mobile boosters to provide a strong signal. This does not only apply to rural areas, but is also applicable in an urban environment where buildings often interfere with cellular signals. To determine signal strength, it is simply not good enough use a smart phone's signal bars or even field test mode to deliver accurate measurements of all wireless carrier networks that are available, as these will at best give only a rough indication of signal strength. That is why many professional installers use a high precision RF signal analyzer. In many cases where the reception coverage range is extremely weak, signal bars or the field test mode (FTM) / field test display (FTD) on a phone is simply not accurate enough to provide the precise, real-time measurements you need when installing a cellular signal booster or EV charging station.

This high technology instrument detects RF signals and will take you through a number of easy menu choices. Once a carrier has been selected, the peak measurements and signal strength for that carrier will displayed brightly in real-time. In addition, band strength, the carrier name, and signal strength in 3G (Ec/Io and RSCP) and 4G (RSSI, RSRQ and RSRP) will be shown in large text. With all these parameters being measured and displayed on a single unit, this makes it the perfect tool for converting to the newer 4G networks and away from the older 3G networks.

A direct connection can easily be made to any antenna via the standard SMA connector that comes with the kit. This includes directional antennas which are typically mounted externally. Start by connecting the cell signal strength reader to the antenna line and then select the signal that needs to be boosted. Navigating to the antenna alignment screen will result in instantaneous measurements being received while the antenna is adjusted to achieve maximum signal strength. If you're unsure of the location of the best wireless base station, simply use this tool in DF mode and a direction-finding antenna. Then start searching in every direction.

  • I just found out a young friend of a family member bought a Tesla (he’s in his early 20s) and was surprised. I do see more charging stations which means these vehicles aren’t a rarity anymore. I don’t think they’re common, but as more charging stations pop up, I think more people who have the income for one will consider a Tesla. Just like there need to be more charging stations, these charging stations need to be operational so I can see why you’d want a solid connection for the charging station. That’s where a cell phone booster can help link things up, similar to how vending machines are often wired to a network.

  • This is a fascinating subject because someone told me that some vending machines are connected electronically and that they need to make sure they have a good signal. I had no clue that these EV charging stations are connected too. I imagine there’s a vast network of different devices that are connected now.

  • EV is the wave of the future. I’ve been seeing more of the stations popping up around my town, including at the mall and downtown. It’s great to look at where we may be in 10 years. I wasn’t expecting this.
