Cel-Fi QUATRA for AT&T Wireless network plus Verizon Wireless network is an in-building cellular distributed antenna system typically used in large enterprises. This hybrid signal amplifier or small cell signal enhancing system is easy-to-deploy and cost-efficient. It is typically used as a signal boosting solution for buildings up to 200,000 square feet. This cell phone signal booster model has two channels and boosts 3G/4G/LTE voice and data on the Verizon network as well as AT&T network.
QUATRA 2000 Off-Air installation configuration / set-up.
Example below is an illustration showing a single QUATRA 2000 system, connected to the Wideband Omni Antenna, with a single QRE deployed, and four (4) Coverage Units (CU). Each QUATRA 2000 system supports two carriers such as this product listing for AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless frequencies programmed Network unit (Head End Signal Amplifier) and Coverage units (Remote End Signal Broadcaster / Server).
QUATRA 2000 Small Cell installation configuration / set-up:
This hybrid solution combines the best of Smart Booster and active DAS technologies. It is self-optimizing and self-configuring, while installation and configuration is made simple by the Cel-Fi WAVE Portal.
Cel-Fi WAVE Platform cloud-based remote management platform enables device maintenance and management. Key features of the WAVE platform include:
- Cel-Fi device and asset management.
- Mobile and desktop applications.
- Data modelling and reporting.
- Alerts and alarms can be customized.
- Globally trusted carrier-grade security.
- The WAVE Platform portal can be accessed through its own dashboard, or integrated via APIs.
The QUATRA is scalable and can be used to cover up to 200,000 square feet. It either operates in off-air mode, or it can be integrated with small cell equipment. In the latter case, it operates in distributed small cell mode and creates a Super Cell.
Active DAS Hybrid.
Cel-Fi QUATRA 2000 is available in a dual-carrier combination and will work for both AT&T and Verizon cell phones and cellular devices such as tablet computers, mobile hotspots, etc. This dual provider-specific operation ensures that the system distributes and boosts service only for the two operator networks for which it is authorized and configured.
Its outdoor cellular donor signal is provided by the wideband omni-directional MIMO antenna. Coverage is provided via Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need for separate power supplies for the Coverage Units. The Network Unit uses Dynamic gain control in to automatically ensure the best coverage and maximum gain at all times.
Network Unit (NU).
The hub of the system is the QUATRA Network Unit (NU). Its scalable design can work with between 1 and 4 Coverage Units (CU) to cover up to 50,000 square feet. The NU provides the donor signal to system and supplies power to up to 4 CUs (Coverage Units). It can be managed by the WAVE Platform.
Coverage Unit (CU).
The remote radio head of the system that rebroadcasts the donor signal is called the Coverage Unit (CU). Each CU provides coverage in the QUATRA system, with up to 4 per NU. Each CU is powered from the NU by Power-Over-Ethernet (POE).
The Wideband Omni-Directional MIMO Antenna has a gain of between 2.5 and 5 dBi and is perfect for use as a source for outdoor cellular donor signals. It has 2 x 2m lengths of QMA (quick connect) cable attached with right angle QMA male connectors.
Range Extender (QRE).
The Range Extender is a Power over Ethernet (PoE) device that extends the maximum distance between the NU and a CU. Each range extender permits additional cable lengths of up to 650 ft. (200 meters).
The coverage area achieved by a signal booster depends on the signal strength outside the building.
|Estimated coverage area
|Strong (5 bars)
|up to 50,000 square feet
|Medium (3-4 bars)
|up to 25,000 square feet
|Weak (1-2 bars)
|up to 10,000 square feet
This model only supports Verizon & AT&T coverage at the following frequencies:
Verizon Frequencies: 746-757 / 776-787 / 1710-1755 / 2110-2155 MHz.
AT&T Frequencies: 698-716 / 728-746 / 824-849 / 869-894 / 1850-1910 / 1930-1990 /1710-1755 / 2110-2155 MHz.
This booster supports 2G/3G Voice and Data, as well as 4G LTE. Connector type: QMA Female. Cable type: Ethernet.
Note that this model Cel-Fi QUATRA Hybrid Signal Booster and Active DAS for Verizon & AT&T can only boost signal for Verizon Wireless & AT&T Wireless networks. If users in the building use more cellular provider networks, you will need multi-carrier booster such as these: Small Space Signal Boosters for up to 4000 sq. ft., Medium Space Signal Boosters for up to 7000 sq. ft., Large Space Signal Boosters for up to 20,000 sq. ft., or Very Large Area Signal Boosters for up to 100,000 sq. ft.

Note: For any signal booster to help, outside signal strength must be at least -110 dB or there must be a clear line of sight to a cell tower that is within twenty miles. Before ordering, please check outside signal level in decibels or ensure that you can make and hold a phone call at any good spot outside where you can mount an exterior antenna. Square footage stated in signal booster listings is based on good signal outside. If it is any weaker, the boosted sq. ft. area will be considerably lower, accordingly.
Kevin K. of Anderson, California gave the following review:
Website is easy to use with plain straight forward info but could have had more on testing signal strength to make sure you get a strong enough booster.
Therefore, please note that stated sq. ft. coverage is based on good signal outside. For best results: If outside signal is weak, we suggest choosing the next higher sq. ft. coverage kit. If outside signal is very weak, we suggest choosing the kit with even more higher sq. ft. range bracket. Basically, higher the sq. ft. bracket, the more powerful the signal amplifier with greater Gain as well as higher uplink and downlink output power.
If outside signal is too weak (weaker than -110 dB), submit request for cell coverage solution assessment. Upon receipt of questionnaire, we will perform residential or business site survey. This will help us determine the system that is needed to improve cell coverage. Then, we will create system design using that system such as femtocell, active or hybrid distributed antenna system (DAS), or other carrier feed signal enhancing method available that will work at your signal-challenged location. Finally, we will schedule for installation after equipment and installation service quote has been approved by you, or your company.
For non installation-included kits: Most home / office / building cell signal booster kits only include bracket to mount exterior antenna on outside wall, edge of roof, or existing pipe up to 2 inches in diameter. Mounting pole not included with most kits, unless stated specifically that it is included for free. Therefore, a mounting post must be purchased separately if you will require it to mount exterior antenna.
