Product Description
WiFi Antenna: 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Directional 10 dBi Panel Antenna is a powerful indoor antenna offering high gain and an RP-SMA connector. Suitable for use with any AP, router, or Wi-Fi receiver (single or dual band) with an RP-SMA type port, this antenna is suitable for use on both the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi bands.
It is compatible with the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi equipment, including the AWUS036ACAFC model, and all RP-SMA connector models by TP-Link, Ubiquiti, Linksys, D-Link, and Cisco. This wi-fi antenna works with both the 2.4 and the 5 Ghz Wi-Fi band.
Omnidirectional vs. directional antennas.
Having an understanding of the difference between omnidirectional and directional antennas can help you choose the best product to suit your needs. The purpose of an omnidirectional antenna is to locate signals in a horizontal pattern positioned anywhere within 360 degrees from antenna. If you're not sure where your signals will be coming from or if you will be moving around, an omnidirectional antenna is usually the best choice.
On the other hand, directional antennas search for signals in one direction only. This results in a more focused, higher quality signal, along with less interference and noise as signals from other directions do not interfere with your primary signal. Directional antennas are best suited to circumstances where your location will be fixed and you know exactly where your best quality signal is coming from.
Both omnidirectional and directional antennas have their distinct advantages and the choice between the two types of antennas should be made based on your circumstances, whether you are in a mobile or fixed location, and whether you know where your best signal will come from.
