Note: Stated sq. ft. coverage is based on good signal outside. For best results: If outside signal is weak, we suggest choosing the next higher sq. ft. coverage kit. If outside signal is very weak, we suggest choosing the kit with even more higher sq. ft. range bracket. Basically, higher the sq. ft. bracket, the more powerful the signal amplifier.

How do building cell phone signal boosters work?

Cellular signal booster or amplifier kits consist of 3 main parts - Exterior antenna, signal amplifier, and interior antenna:

  1. An exterior building antenna transmits signals from nearest cell towers into the building via coaxial cable.
  2. The mobile signal amplifier amplifies or repeats those signals to multiply them many times over and then transmit them to interior building antenna(s) via coax cable(s).
  3. Finally, the in-building antenna(e) distribute the strong wireless signals to poor signal areas to enhance cellphone reception considerably to enable fast 3G, 4G LTE, 5GE Internet and clear mobile phone conversations.

An important note: Since signal boosters require existing signal outside which they use to amplify and distribute within a building using a distributed antenna system (DAS), the size of boosted coverage area provided indoors is dependent to a great extent by the strength of signal available for donor (outside) antenna.

Therefore, actual coverage cannot be predicted with certainty. This is the reason why you will see that each booster kit description states, "up to" a specific amount of square footage. No booster can guarantee an exact amount of coverage it can provide. The stated coverage area in square footage, is merely an estimation.

Simple 3-Step Installation Process:

Installation is fairly easy with included step by step instructions. A brief install overview is as follows: 1) Place exterior antenna at an optimum location outside that has maximum signal strength. 2) Place interior antenna where signal is needed or lacking for convenient usage within home/office. 3) Place signal amplifier main unit near a power source, and where you can connect it to both external and internal antennas with provided coaxial cables. Set-up complete.

No synchronization or password needed:

Unlike connecting to wifi Internet hotspot or a Bluetooth connection for wireless earphones, speaker or headset, there's no need to sync cell phone to take advantage of our signal booster system.

For Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, you need to find the correct Wifi network or Bluetooth device and log in to connect by entering the correct password, if required. If you don't know the required password, you can’t connect or synchronize. And if you get a new cellular phone, you have to log in again to that wireless network or synch again with your Bluetooth devices. However, that is not the case with our cell phone signal boosters. No pairing of devices required. No logging in to connect. No need to do anything. It just works. Our cell phone booster systems are completely transparent. They work with existing signal, boosting from the tower to your mobile phone and back again. This creates an area of strong, reliable coverage in your home or office building. And that boosted signal works for any mobile device within range - automatically. No login credentials, and no password required.

How many simultaneous cell devices or users can benefit from stronger reception?

These powerful cellular amplifiers have no stated limit to the number of cellular devices that can be within the coverage range of interior antenna to get boosted signals simultaneously. However, that "no limit" number may vary or depend upon the strength of outside signal because stronger the signal outside, larger the coverage area inside, and higher the number of devices that will be encompassed in that coverage range area. Therefore, to put it simply, laws of physics will determine how many users would fit into that coverage area range. As long as the mobile device is in the coverage range, it will get stronger signal - i.e. more antenna signal bars displayed. Please note that checking signal strength in Decibels is a more precise method to check actual, realtime, signal strength received by a phone.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I installed this signal booster and there\'s tremendous improvement in reception - but only within 10 feet of interior antenna. I need better coverage in all other rooms of the house on the same floor level. Per instructions, I mounted outside antenna outside the house (at the soffit). The lights on booster are flashing yellow sometimes and sometimes red. What should I try to do to fix this?

There seem to be two issues going on that can be remedied fairly easily:   A. Exterior antenna is not aimed correctly to point to nearby cell tower. B. Inside and outside antennas are too close to each other.   Solutions:   1. Exterior antenna can be moved up higher on the roof (it is presently down on the soffit, not on the roof). 2. Outside antenna needs to be aimed correctly once moved up higher.   This should fix the problem.  With outside antenna moved up higher, it will be far enough away from inside antenna, and will have a better line of sight to the nearby cell tower antenna.   If this does not remedy the problem, please contact us so we can troubleshoot with you over the phone to pinpoint the problem to fix it for good. Thank you.

  • I have set up the booster in a temporary fashion and it seems to be working great! I’m very pleased. The next step is to run the wires so that they are tidy and hidden. I had a few questions before I start on that: 1. I do not need the full length of cable — I really only maybe a third of the length of each of them. Will it make much difference in quality to shorten them? Obviously, that would be additional trouble, so if it is not significant, I will not go through the time and expense of buying the crimping tool and cable ends to shorten them. 2. There are two conflicting demands on the location of the interior dome antenna: It needs to be at least 50 horizontal feet from the outdoor antenna, and it needs to be central in the building. Since my house is only 36 feet long, I am not going to be able to place it 50 feet away. Temporarily, I put it as far away as I could, and things seems to be working fine. Any sense of whether I am going to be better off leaving it at the far end of the house, away from the outdoor antenna, or if I should put it in the middle? I can put it in the middle and try it out, of course, but practical considerations make that a bit difficult. 3. I am tempted to put the interior antenna in the attic, pointed down as it is supposed to be, instead of mounting it into the ceiling. Then I do not have to see it at all, and if I end up wanting to reposition it, I can. Also, I could not figure out how to get that plastic nut off the antenna. That would mean that there was cellulose insulation and 1/2 inch drywall in between. Any sense of how much that would degrade my signal? 4. I have a directional outdoor antenna. Because I am in a valley, there is only a range of maybe 30 degrees on where I could point it. Any sense of how much the signal strength is likely to vary within that range? I am just wondering how much I should fiddle with it, especially since my iPhone doesn’t seem to go into the mode that shows the signal strength.

Thanks for your questions. Answers listed below. Since you did not mention the model you purchased, we're not able to give specifics such as where to buy shorter cables, etc. Please call us for more details.     1. Since it is working fine with stock cables, it would not be worth the effort to replace the cables but you can definitely buy them separately and replace existing cables for more efficiency and a stronger boost (achieved by reduction in signal loss thanks to shorter cables).   2. We would leave interior antenna, as far away as you can since system seems to be working fine with that much separation.   3. Yes, you can mount interior antenna in attic which will cause a bit dampening of signals but that has been done more often than not without compromising system boost needed.   4. Since exterior antenna is working fine, it does not have to be moved but moving it more precisely toward cell tower should provide better results. You can rent a signal meter to help you to do that.   Thank you.

  • Signal booster legality question: It is my understanding that boosting a broadband signal my not be legal? If we can at least have boosted signal in our buildings, I will discuss getting its cone of coverage shifted a bit. Please clarify legalities as related to signal boosters.

Boosting a signal is very much legal but there are ways to do it outside the laws of the FCC which would make it illegal. All equipment that SignalBooster.com sells is 100% legal and can be used inside buildings. Most consumer kits covering up to 10,000 sq. ft. already have blanket pre-approval from all major carriers and only need to be registered with them without waiting for their approval. Only commercial and industrial grade kits covering 50,000+ sq. ft. require professional installation by certified installers and require pre-approval from respective Carriers - both of which we can help with (getting approvals from respective cellular service providers and professional installations by certified installers).

  • I live in a rural area on the edge of a large dead zone on the \"back side\" of a mountain surrounded by park land. Let me know if you can do anything.

In order to determine the best solution, we need you to please check outside signal strength at the best spot by putting your phone in field test mode.   If signal strength is better than -110dB (such as -100dB, -90dB, -80dB),  we suggest this cell signal booster kit that includes professional installation service at your location. We will ensure the weak signal situation is resolved: https://www.signalbooster.com/products/cell-phone-signal-booster-plus-installation   If signal strength is worse than -110dB (such as -110dB, -120dB, etc.), please contact us to discuss your options. Thank you.

  • Just got off the line with Verizon and they don't recognize this booster I bought from you. They want me to go through you to register it. Can you help?

It seems that Verizon representative you spoke to, was not apprised about signal booster online registration available at https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/accessories/register-signal-booster/

You can read details and register online on your own at the Verizon Wireless website link above.

Here are more basic details about our signal boosters from FCC that provide legitimacy to our products:

    https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/bureau-divisions/mobility-division/signal-boosters

Please note that registration process is totally independent of the functionality of the booster - cell phone signal booster registration has no bearing on its functionality.

In addition, for quicker warranty processing purposes only, you can also register with manufacturer of the signal booster, but that is optional.

  • I have used an Airvana cell zone booster successfully for 6 years to improve cell phone signal since I have a metal roof on my house. One of the Airvana boosters went bad & my service provider Cspire replaced it free of charge. Now the second one went out on Mobile reception but will pick up Broadband, Network, GPS but Mobile for phones will not activate. So logically I think this second cell zone has partially quit functioning. Cspire no longer sells or gives cell zones & told me I could buy one anywhere. I told Cspire Service I could no longer find an old Cspire Airvana boosters online & ask if a Sprint or Verizon Airvana booster exactly like mine would function with Cspire. The service rep said they would. I want to stay with the same W9024 cables to my south upstairs window is the reason I am trying to stay with Airvanabrand if I can. I bought the same model Sprint Airvana & it will not pick up any of the four signals my old Cspire I initially picked up. Was my Cspire rep wrong? Are the Airvana cell zone boosters proprietary for just their customers. I do know Sprint did use CDMA technology as used by Cspire & Verizon.

Very sorry, we do not carry those because they are / used to be given free to customers. If you need better cell reception, the only option we can offer you is to sell you a different complete cell phone signal booster kit with professional installation service so you don't have to worry about cabling, and other installation related tasks. Please contact us if you need assistance. Thank you.

  • Hi, Last Monday my cell phone service stopped working on my AT&T android note 8 and an LG Tracphone device in the house I live in with girlfriend for up to 4, 5, 6 blocks from where I live. If I drive a half mile away the LTE and 4G service returns! Can a signal booster be a solution? What are possible reasons for this - hacked phone, hacked service, IMSI catcher, cell phone tower simulator? Thanks.

Since the phones get reception and work a few blocks away, the problem is not with your cell phones. The problem may be that there's a new development or building now blocking already weak direct line of sight signals from distant cell tower. Or the signal from cell tower has somehow become weaker and not able to penetrate your housing structure nor even reach as did before. In order to determine whether a cell phone signal booster will help, you will need to check on the roof (or atleast from maybe a 2nd storey window, or along entire perimeter outside the house) if you have some signal that enables you to make and hold a call. If yes, a signal booster system can capture that weak signal, amplify it further, and broadcast inside so you can get calls in the house, and don't have to go outside that far to make a call. Do check the signal strength outside by putting each of your phones in test mode which is more accurate than just relying on finicky antenna bars in the phone which don't even display in realtime, thus not at all accurate for these purposes.

  • Hello, I just had a question about the booster. It only works if you have a signal outside?

Yes, there needs to be atleast a little signal outside that exterior antenna can catch and send inside to booster which amplifies it and broadcasts indoors through interior antenna. Check the warning tab at this product listing for more details. Thank you.

  • What if you have no signal in your home, no internet?

You do not need Internet for these signal boosters to work. They work independently of home Internet service. You don't need to have any signal inside. You do need some signal outside for exterior antenna to capture signals and then inject those signals inside the building via coaxial cable. Then it amplifies that signal using included cellular amplifier. Finally, it rebroadcasts amplified signals inside the home so your cell phone service provides coverage inside where there was no signal before. Since signal booster is merely equipment that amplifies mobile signals, you do need a cell phone plan and a cell phone for talk, text, and mobile data service for using Internet on your cell carrier's mobile network.

  • Does the outdoor antenna, mounted on top of my roof with a 6ft pole require being grounded?

Yes, it is always recommended and safer if you would ground outside antenna with a lightning surge protector a grounding kit. It does not require to be grounded. However, if your area is prone to lightning strikes, it would be advisable to look into lightning protectors (50 Ohm surge protector or 75 Ohm surge protector, whichever depending on impedance of your cellular amplifier exterior antenna port) to ground outside antenna.

  • I have a metal roof. No service inside but outside we have great service. Will it work???

It will absolutely work. It is designed to work for your situation. Exterior antenna grabs signal from outside and transmits it inside via coaxial cable to signal booster which amplifies that signal and broadcasts it indoors via interior antenna.

  • I have Verizon with 1 bar inside and two outside. Will this give me a consistently reliable signal inside?

Yes, do pick any kit based on sq. footage boost needed, except the first kit that has Omni exterior antenna option because directional Yagi exterior antenna (looks triangular in shape) can reach our farther to catch maximum signal that the booster can amplify.

  • What are the chances this booster will work for me, and how do I find out for sure before buying so I don't have to return?

In most instances there's enough signal outside house/office for signal booster to amplify and broadcast indoors.

However, in some instances there may be absolutely no signal outside for signal booster to amplify and thus it may not work in such instances.

In order to determine whether there's enough signal outside for booster to work, it is a good idea to check signal strength outside, around the house/office perimeter, or preferably higher up against the wall, balcony, terrace, or roof.

To do this, we suggest putting your phone in field test mode to check your Carrier's signal strength in decibels because signal bars are not accurate - they are finicky, and do not update in realtime.

Once you know you have enough signal strength for booster to work, it would be safe to have a cell phone booster installer come out to install it if you're not comfortable installing it on your own.

If you realize there isn't enough signal strength as required (atleast -110dB 3G / -120dB 4G or LTE) and you ordered anyway, then you would have to return it for refund within 60 days.

  • How long is the coax cable for the SKU / Model: PolyH72ORA-USA?

75 Ohm RG-6 Cable (50 ft.) for outside antenna; 50 Ohm SC-240 Cable (20 ft.) for inside antenna.

  • I have 2 bars on my phone in the house but signal isn't reliable. If I go outside, I have 3 bars and calls go a lot better. Will this device take the 3 bars outside and make it even stronger on the inside?

Yes, that is what it is designed to do:)

  • Will this unit work with Consumer Cellular?

Consumer Cellular is a MVNO using AT&T network and T-Mobile network for their primary nationwide wireless networks. Our cell phone signal boosters improve indoor coverage for both AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Therefore, it implies that Consumer Cellular phones, tablets, mobile hotspots, and all cell devices will work with these kits and get better reception indoors. 60 days refund policy available, if they do not help but we do not see why they would not help if you have usable signal outside.

  • Is a Verizon jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot the same as a Booster?

No, Verizon jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot is a mobile hotspot that provides access to paid cellular connectivity - it has a subscribed SIM card inside it.

Whereas a cellular booster merely improves reception for mobile hotspots like Verizon jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot so it can provide stronger and more consistent connectivity for connected cell devices such as cell phones, tablets, etc.

A cell booster system catches signals from outside via exterior antenna, then sends them inside for amplification by its main signal amplifier unit. Those amplified signals are then broadcasted indoors for cell devices such as cell phones, tablets, mobile hotspots to catch and provide enhanced, consistent connectivity to nearest cell tower.

  • Will it work with Sprint Spark internet receiver?

We believe Sprint Spark uses a combination of bands 25, 26, and 41. All our boosters will work with 25, half of 26, but not 41. Currently no booster will work with all three. Please check with Sprint tech support to see when bands are being used in your area. Worst case scenario, we offer refund within 60 days if it does not work to improve your cell reception for you. Thank you.

  • Will this product work with t-mobiles band 71 (600 mhz)? That is the only thing I can get out at my house.

Sorry, these would not support T-Mobile's band 71. There're others that do. We're constantly working with the FCC to gain access to more bands for wider coverage within more cellular signal boosters. The ones that do, and are available, are as follows:

    SureCall Force 8:
    https://www.signalbooster.com/products/surecall-force-8-5g-signal-booster-for-3g-4g-4g-lte-5g

    Cel-Fi Quatra 4000i:
    https://www.signalbooster.com/products/nextivity-cel-fi-quatra-4000i-part-90

Both are type 90 signal boosters that are industrial grade. Therefore, both these will have to be professionally installed by us. They would require FCC registration and a retransmission agreement. When we install, we help with all required approvals such as these, and those from respective carriers. An upcoming one is WilsonPro 710i - read more details here: https://www.signalbooster.com/blogs/news/wilson-pro-710i-5g-signal-booster-making-5g-a-reality-for-businesses

Since these may not be what you're looking for in terms of time and cost expenditure, there're other low Gain passive RF boost alternatives. These include the non-powered parabolic grid antennas that cover practically all cell and wifi frequencies 600MHz to 6500MHz which includes T-Mobiles's frequencies on Band 71:

  • Will this item work if antenna installed in a wood framed building attic? Does the antenna come with mounting bracket?

It is not recommended that exterior antenna be installed in wood framed attic because it may not get enough signal that it would otherwise catch if installed out in open. However, it may work if there's some signal there - ensure there's some signal there that it can send to booster to amplify (see if you can make and hold a voice call in your attic where you plan to place it). Yes, it comes with a mounting bracket.

  • I am replacing a we boost unit. I have outside antenna and standard cable connects in place. Does this unit connect to a standard cable connect or is it a special connect. SKU / Model: F10G5SBTW-U

Ideally, you must use the antennas and cabling plus connectors that come with the kit. The reason for that is the new kit antennas are rated to pick up the 4G frequencies. Without knowing what weBoost system you had or trying to replace, we don't know what antennas you have, and if they are able to pick up the frequencies.

If you have any weBoost 3G product, we would recommend swapping the cable and antennas. If you had the Home 4G or the Connect 4G you would have 75 ohm cabling that uses the same cable as you see on cable or satellite TV systems - not same as the new one.

The new system you have or will buy with model # you stated requires 50 ohm and the cable with connector that comes with the system will give you the best results. You could use an N Male to F Female adapter (p/n SC-CN-20) but the effectiveness of using that adapter couldn't be guaranteed. If you have the Connect 4G-X, you would still be able to use the antenna and the cabling in the current system and simply replace the booster unit.

However, we highly recommend using only the parts from the complete kits we sell - there's a reason we do not sell cell signal booster base unit on its own - it is certified by FCC for use as a complete kit. Once again, kits are made to be used as they arrive complete with amplifier, antennas, cables and connectors.

Switching out or changing parts may cause unnecessary problems. Please call us for any help whatsoever and we will be glad to help with whatever you're trying to do, but in the right proper manner for your safety as well as for maximum effectiveness of your cell booster kit.

  • Does it work for Total Wireless Cell phone company?? And can it be used by more than one phone company at the same time??

Yes, absolutely, all of these kits boost reception of all cellular companies in USA simultaneously except GO-X for up to 15k sq. ft. For example, if you have a cellphone from Total Wireless and others in your family have Verizon Wireless and AT&T phones (or any other for that matter), all cell phones would benefit from better coverage indoors at the same time.

  • How is access done, ie password or manual sign in? How many people can use at once?

As soon as any of the cell phone signal boosters are installed and powered on, anyone in proximity of interior antenna will AUTOMATICALLY benefit from stronger and better reception regardless of the cell carrier network their phone or device has service through. No need to sync, nor log in to take advanted of improved strong signals. These powerful cellular amplifiers have no stated limit to the number of cellular devices that can get be in the coverage range of interior antenna and get boosted signals simultaneously. That number may depend upon the strength of outside signal - stronger the outside signal, larger the coverage area inside, and higher the number of devices that will be encompassed in its coverage range area.

Warning

Note: For any signal booster to help, outside signal strength must be at least -110 dB or there must be a clear line of sight to a cell tower that is within twenty miles. Before ordering, please check outside signal level in decibels or ensure that you can make and hold a phone call at any good spot outside where you can mount an exterior antenna. Square footage stated in signal booster listings is based on good signal outside. If it is any weaker, the boosted sq. ft. area will be considerably lower, accordingly.

Kevin K. of Anderson, California gave the following review:

Website is easy to use with plain straight forward info but could have had more on testing signal strength to make sure you get a strong enough booster.

Therefore, please note that stated sq. ft. coverage is based on good signal outside. For best results: If outside signal is weak, we suggest choosing the next higher sq. ft. coverage kit. If outside signal is very weak, we suggest choosing the kit with even more higher sq. ft. range bracket. Basically, higher the sq. ft. bracket, the more powerful the signal amplifier with greater Gain as well as higher uplink and downlink output power.

If outside signal is too weak (weaker than -110 dB), submit request for cell coverage solution assessment. Upon receipt of questionnaire, we will perform residential or business site survey. This will help us determine the system that is needed to improve cell coverage. Then, we will create system design using that system such as femtocell, active or hybrid distributed antenna system (DAS), or other carrier feed signal enhancing method available that will work at your signal-challenged location. Finally, we will schedule for installation after equipment and installation service quote has been approved by you, or your company.

For non installation-included kits: Most home / office / building cell signal booster kits only include bracket to mount exterior antenna on outside wall, edge of roof, or existing pipe up to 2 inches in diameter. Mounting pole not included with most kits, unless stated specifically that it is included for free. Therefore, a mounting post must be purchased separately if you will require it to mount exterior antenna.
